Treatment for Warts

Treatment for Warts
June 3, 2019Jennifer ElliottMedical Articles

School is finally out and though the next school year is months away, it’s never too late to plan for the future. Specifically, when it comes to skin treatments, planning ahead is of the essence. If you have an adolescent suffering from chronic wart growth, you should consider professional medical dermatology. Besides being the prudent option medically, treating unsightly blemishes can help adolescent self-confidence and promote a positive body image.

While many drugstores provide quick wart removal treatments, some patients may need professional help. Dermatologists fight warts by first destroying the wart and then stimulating an immune system response to fight the virus. While this does not guarantee a cure for warts, it can heavily reduce the spread or reoccurrence of them.

Pulse dye laser or V-beam can help remove stubborn warts safely and effectively. This process uses lasers to destroy the blood vessels that help the wart survive. The process first involves a dermatologist removing the upper layers of skin on the wart. This will allow the laser to more easily target the blood vessels without having to break through the epidermis. The V-beam will then fire pulsing lasers to destroy the blood vessels, depriving the art of oxygen and nutrients without harming nearby tissues. This laser usually causes a mild burning sensation accompanied by what feels like a rubber band hitting the skin. Doctors use numbing agents to help prevent any discomfort.

V-beam can also treat many other skin blemishes including acne scarring, sun spots, facial veins, leg veins, angiomas, rosacea, and fine wrinkles.
