Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis
Medical Articles

Do you, or someone you know suffer from excessive sweating? It is more common than you think and isn’t tied to any season. The condition is known as Hyperhidrosis. It is natural for the body to sweat, it’s the simplest form of how our bodies cool. For some, though, sweating becomes excessive, and a person sweats even when the body is not actively trying to cool off. Excessive sweating can occur in more than just one area of the body and affects daily activities along with self-esteem. In some cases, Hyperhidrosis causes sweat to drip from the body, resulting in stained clothes and even possible infection due to moisture levels on the skin.

Many factors affect Hyperhidrosis, and not cases are similar. Sweating is not just from temperature. We also sweat when we become nervous about something, such as a large presentation. Age is also not a determination of who suffers from this condition, and it can start in early adolescence as puberty kicks in. Hyperhidrosis affects both men and women equally. Many insurance companies have in recent years recognized the condition, and treatment options are typically covered.

How do you know if you have Hyperhidrosis? Seeking an evaluation from a medical provider is important. Through a consultation, our staff can run several tests to pinpoint the potential cause of excessive sweating. Trusting the regions skin care experts means that you will have access to skilled providers who understand which treatment plan is best for you. Some options for treatment involve the prescription of special deodorants or Botox injections. Insurance companies typically request two attempts of prescription deodorant before authorizing treatment by Botox; however, we are extremely pleased with the results. Using Botox to treat Hyperhidrosis has minimum side effects and treatments last up to 6 months.
